- This research is motivated by the learning of Social Sciences boring and not fun so low student learning outcomes and the results showed that students who meet the KKM is only 40.6%. One attempt to solve this problem is by using CTL approach (Contextual Teaching and Learning). This study aims to determine differences and cognitive learning outcome of students on the subjects of Social Sciences class IV on the material development of production technology, communication and transportation. This study was conducted in SDN Banyuasih school year 2014/2015. This research method is quasi-experimental. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling to select two classes. In this study, the class IV A as a control class IV and class B as a class experiment. Based on the results of this study concluded that there are differences in cognitive learning outcomes of students who use the approach CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) with students using conventional approaches demonstrated in trials with the two parties Z > Z1/2(1-α or 2,329 > 1,960 then H0 is rejected and Ha accepted. and there is an increase in cognitive learning outcomes approach CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning) proved in a test of the party that is the right side, the result is the value Z > Z0,5-a or 13,44 > 1,645 then H0 is rejected and Ha accepted.
