  • Red chili pepper (Capsicum annum L) a commodity that has high economic value, so there is many are cultivated in Indonesia. Mandalawangi is one of sub-district in central Pandeglang that produce red chili peppers. But the production is decrease every year, the farming area is continues to decline, and the average production that tends to fluctuates. Causes of fluctuations the average chili production was made possible due to the inefficiency used of factors of production. This study aims to analyze the level of influence of factors of production to total production of red chili pepper, also to analyze the level of efficiency by using the factors of production in chili’s farming in Mandalawangi sub-district, Pandeglang Regency. Sampling conducted by survey method. The analytical tool used in this study Cobb-Douglas production function, analysis of economic efficiency, F test and t test. Based on the result that the data processing together the factors of production such as land, seed, labor and manure real striving towards the production of red chili pepper. Partially, there are only one variables that significantly affect the production of red chili pepper variable seeds (X 2 ). For three other variables namely land seed (X iii 1 ), labor (X 3 ) and manure (X 4 ) is not significant in influencing the production of red chili peppers. The farming conditions showed a constant return to scale, that require improvements in chili production process. The used of factors of production land, seeds, labor and manure are inefficient, and needs additional use of land, seeds, labor and manure to achieve higher level of efficient.
