- This research to know influence tempering temperature and holding time at tempering to hardness, micro structure and rate of corrosion steel AISI 1045 which is carburizing and quenching oil SAE 20. Used material in research is steel AISI 1045 and supported other subtance look ike coconut shell charcoal, calsium carbonate and oil SAE 20. Make testing sample with dimension diameter 30mm and thick 20 mm as many as 10 pieces. Sample put in box with mix mediation coconut shell charcoal 80% and 20% calsium carbonate then heated at temperature 850oC with holding time until three hours after that quenching with oil SAE 20 after proces pack carburizing then do proces tempering with variation 200oC, 300oC, 400oC and holding time 20 minutes, 60 minutes and 120 minutes. Tested is chemichal compotition, microstructure, hardness and corrosion. Hardness test with hardness rockwell testing machine. Research result indicate become increase hardness on steel AISI 1045 after proces carburizing which quenching oil SAE 20 and tempering. Highest hardness at sample A2 with point 60,4 HRC.meanwhile hardness point lowest at sample raw with poin 17,8 HRC
