  • This study was aimed to investigate the effect of an predict-observe-explain strategy to the cognitive ability of students on human digestive system subconcept in the senior high school 19 tangerang. This study was a quasi-experimental research design with randomized control group pretest-posttest. Predict-observe�explain strategy as independent variables, and cognitive abilitiy of students as the dependent variable. This study was conducted in The High School 19 tangerang class XI Science 2st semester academic year 2014-2015. The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling. Class XI Science 1 as the experimental class, and class XI Science 3 as the control class. Data of this research are retrievedby multiple choice test, observation sheets, and response questionnaires. The data analysis technique was used the Mann-Whitney test to test the hypothesis. The results of hypothesis test with a significance value of 0,004 < 0,05 indicates there are differences in the average value of posttest between the experimental class and the control class. It can be interpreted that predict�observe-explain strategy effect the cognitive ability of students
