- This study was motivated by the lack of utilization of the development of information and communication technology in the learning process. Teachers use instructional media is limited to reading the book. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of media presentsi (powerpoint) to describe the learning activities of students and student learning outcomes after using media presentation (powerpoint) in social studies. This study was a quasi-experimental research. The subjects of this study were class VA and VB class. The instrument used in this study is an instrument in the form of multiple-choice test of 20 questions, and the non-test instrument in the form of student activity observation sheet in the experimental class and the control class. The hypothesis of this study is that there is the effect of applying a media presentation (powerpoint) to the activity and student learning outcomes in social studies in class V. Hypothesis test used is the t-test. From the results of the research, data analysis post-test t = 6.06 and t table = 1.9811 with df = 78 at significance level of 5%, or t = (6.06)> t table (1.9811), H0 is rejected and Ha accepted. This means there is the effect of applying a media presentation (powerpoint) to the learning outcomes of students in social studies in class V. Conclusions obtained in this study is the student learning outcomes in a given social studies learning by using media presentation (powerpoint) is better than on student learning out comes are given learning by using media images
