In this research, the writer used qualitative method to analyze and describe the data. To get the data, the writer used written test and questionnaire. The written test consisted of 16 picture-cued story sequences and questionnaire consisted of 11 open-ended questions. Both instruments were given to 32 students of XI-Science class in SMAN 1 Cijaku, Lebak. The result of the research showed that there were 726 errors committed by the students. The error was classified through surface strategy taxonomy which divided into four types; omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. Among the four types, misformation error which had 479 or 66% was the highest type of error made by the students.
