  • In order to improve the learning outcomes of a teacher should be able to choose the right approach to learning so that students obtain better results. The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) differences in learning outcomes Civics scientific approach and contextual approach; (2) differences in learning outcomes Civics students who have high emotional intelligence and emotional intelligence is low; (3) the effect of the interaction between the scientific approach and emotional intelligence on learning outcomes Civics; (4) differences in learning outcomes Civics scientific approach, high emotional intelligence and contextual approach, high emotional intelligence; (5) differences in learning outcomes Civics scientific approach, low emotional intelligence and contextual approach, low emotional intelligence. Samples were fourth grade students of the school year 2014/2015, consists of two classes each class there are 30 students. The research was conducted in November 2014. The method uses quasi-experimental research with data analysis using ANOVA two lanes. The results showed: (1) The results of the scientific approach to studying Civics higher learning outcomes Civics contextual approach, (2) Results of studying Civics high emotional intelligence is higher than the results of studying Civics low emotional intelligence, (3) There is an interaction between the scientific approach and intelligence Civics emotional about learning outcomes, (4) The results of the scientific approach to studying Civics, high emotional intelligence is higher than the results of studying Civics contextual approach, high emotional intelligence, (5) The results of the scientific approach to studying Civics, low emotional intelligence is lower than the learning outcomes approach Civics contextual, low emotional intelligence.
