- Soil has different characteristics and properties of each location, so it requires special handling and treatment to overcome problems that may occur such as poor soil conditions that cause road becomes bumpy structure or cracked. These problems occur in the village of Carenang, Kragilan KM 5.7 is the background of this study was to investigate the stabilization of the soil by mixing the waste carbide. Carbide waste is dominated by 60% of calcium and 40% of other elements, in other words waste carbide has a pozzolan properties. This study aims to determine the classification of the soil and the effect of adding carbide waste to the value of Unconfined Compression Test (UCT). The addition of carbide waste varies, 0%, 3.5%, 7.5%, and 10.5% with the curing 0 day, 7 days, 14 days and 21 days. The results of physical testing soil that the sample is classified as shows anorganic soil group with moderate plasticity and the value of initial moisture content 23.96%, specific gravity soil is 2.68, Liquid Limit (LL) 40%, and Plastic Limit (PL) 23%, and Plasticity Index (PI) 17%. The optimum water content is 23% and dry unit weight ( d) is 1,499 g/cm3 . Wherewith adding 3,5% - 7,5% of carbide waste increasing the value of compressive strength, but at 10,5% of carbide waste the value of qu decreased. The qu value in 21 days curing by the addition of 7.5% carbide waste is equal to 2.87 kg/cm2.
