- This research aimed to determine the effect of Index Card Match (ICM) method on cognitive ability and motivation of students on the cells subconcept. Research method was quasi-experimental method with control group design pretestposttest. The independent variable in this research was Index Card Match (ICM) method while cognitive ability and motivation of students learning as the dependent variable. Population in this research were all of students class VII SMPN 1 Anyer, academic year 2014/2015 with sample class VII E as an control class and VII H as an experiment class. The sampling technique that used was simple random sampling. Instrument used were multiple-choice test for determining students cognitive ability, motivation questionnaire and observation sheets. Based on analysis, cognitive ability and motivation on experiment class were higher than control class. Based on t-test analysis showed that there was influence on cognitive ability and motivation of students after the use of Index Card Match (ICM) method on the cells subconcept.
