  • The river is a wellhead that very important for human life, the benefits of the river existences as water providers and receptacle water for the fulfilment of the needs of the people, environmental sanitation, agriculture, industry and power station main ecosystem flora and fauna. The river stream that provides ease of life for the local community can also be a risk to the community such as the annual floods, infrastructure, farmland, as well as facilities and infrastructure. This research aims to control the flood using alternative normalization in the river of Way Rumbih. The data used for this research are secondary data is about rainfall for 14 years and looks transverse dimension on the river of Way Rumbih with the analysis plan of flood discharge that calculated by using the method of synthetic hydrograph unit from Snyder, obtained the value of peak discharge is 1782,587 m3/sec. There is also the analysis using method SCS obtained peak discharge of 682.400 m3 / sec. In this research also using the hydraulics analysis with HEC-RAS 4.0.1 software, to analyze using the steady flow stream and unsteady flow stream of Way Rumbih river. As the result, the river cannot accommodate the flow rates that occur. Therefore, normalization for alternative flood control is required, so the river can accommodate the flow of river over 50 years scale
