- Reading is not only about read and pronounce the words of the text but also about understand and think of the text. Students should know the meaning of words and also understand the grammar structure of text. However, teacher should give the appropriate technique to make students acquire reading skill. Teacher should give the suitable material to support students in achieving the goal in reading. The objective of the research was to find out the influences of using prediction strategy toward students’ reading comprehension at tenth grade of SMAN 8 Kota Serang. This research focused on narrative text. The researcher used true experimental design and control group pretest-posttest. The population of this research was students of tenth grade of SMAN 8 Kota Serang that consisted of nine classes. For the sample, the researcher chose two classes as experimental class and control class, they were X.1 and X.2. The data of the research were collected by giving pre-test and post-test to both classes. The collected data were analyzed using the T-test formula. The results in this research showed that: means score of pretest of experimental class was 47.34 and the control class pre-test was 48.27, means score of experimental class posttest was 66.08 and control class post-test was 54.82, and Tcount was 5.22. The Ttable with level of significance at 0.05 (5%) was 1.66. Based on the data analysis above, the alternative hypothesis was accepted because the Tcount was higher than Ttable (5.22 > 1.66). It also means that prediction strategy can influence the students’ reading comprehension at tenth grade of SMAN 8 Kota Serang.
