  • The objective of this research was to identify the influence of teaching reading comprehension using Notetaking Strategy. To achieve the objective of the research, the researcher conducted the true experimental research. This research held at SMPN 1 Pabuaran. The sample of the research was eighth grade which was consist of 66 students. In Notetaking Strategy, the students was reading the text while making note. The note was the important point of the text that wrote by students. The researcher used quantitative method that used experiment and control class pre-test and pos-test design. The researcher was conducted four meetings at the VIII E as a experiment class and VIII D as a control class. Experiment class was taught by using Notetaking Strategy while control class was taught by using Silent Reading. The result of this research showed that the use of Notetaking Strategy could achieve students’ reading comprehension. The improvement of students’ reading comprehension can be seen from the mean score of post-test, that was 67.12 for experiment class and 62.42 for control class. It means that Notetaking Strategy can be used as one of alternative strategy in teaching reading nonfiction from magazine
