  • The research was aimed to analyze the implementation of problem-based learning model in improving the ability of critical thinking skills and student achievement on the competency standard of government system.The subjects of the research was 12 th Grade Science of SMAN 1 Cibeber students were 36 students.This classroom action researches is conducted by three cycles. The activities include planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The classroom action research used Problem Based Learning Model. The research used two instruments on each cycle, namely (1) the students group worksheet and individual written test at the end of the cycle, (2) the observation sheet of students critical thinking skills for collecting data.The results of the research showed that the implementation of Problem Based Learning Model can improve critical thinking skills and students achievement on Civics Education in 12 th grade of Science of SMAN 1 Cibeber on the competency standards of Government System. From tests which had been carried out for three cycles that there was a positive correlation between the score of critical thinking skills with the score of student learning achievement; if the students thought critically, it could more increase learning results, It means that there were significant influence between the score of students critical thinking skills with the students learning achievement.
