- The unoptimal utilization of leachate in Bagendung Cilegon landfiil had a potential to contaminate water and environment. This characteristic study aimed to know the Bagendung Cilegon leachate characteristic by did the utilization process to reduce the pollutant level appropriate to fluid waste standards. The method we used was the laboratoriom test. The first sample we tested was the leachate from Bagendung Cilegon lendfiil before any threatments. And the others samples were the leachate after each aeration, coagulation and filtration threatment. The result was the characteristic of leachate from Bagendung Cilegon had a high pollution level and not qualify to fluid waste standard, with the chemical oxide demand value of 3636mg/L, pH 9, the total suspended solids value of 347 mg /, the iron (Fe) value of 6.5 mg / L, and the lead (Pb) value of 20 mg / L. And the result of pollutans reducing procces with aeration, coagulation, neutralization and filtration treatment was the chemical oxygen demand 74% reduced to 935 mg / L, pH 22% reduced to 7, total suspended solid 80% reduced to 69 mg / L, the iron(Fe) velue 92% reduced to 0.5 mg / L, and the lead (Pb) 77.5% reduced to 4.5 mg / L. But the leachate after the reduction process was not secure for the environtment because the value of chemical oxygen demand and the lead (Pb) still not qualify to the fluid waste standard.
