- Tilapia is a freshwater fish commodities that have economical value. Tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) is relatively easily to cultivated and has several advantages among others rapid growh rate, high tolerance to the environment and resistant to disease. Intensive fish cultivated using high stocking density and feed doses that are too high, causing to decreased growth, survival rate and water quality. One of the efforts is to use technology that combines and aquaculture with plants. Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture and hydroponics which aims to preserve fish and plants in the interconnected system. This study aims to determine the density of red tilapia fish using aquaponics technology. The study was conducted for 35 days, starting from February to March 2015 in Faculty of Agriculture Laboratory. Fish samples used 1 fish/L, 3 fish/L and 5 fish/L by using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and three reiteration. The result showed that treatment with a density 1 fish/L gives the best results for the survival rate 100%±0,00, specific growth rate 2,03%±0,08 and feed convertion ratio 1,33%±0,09.
