  • A diversity of social processes and cultural values such as social interaction, customs, and manners that exist in each region can be determined by the community itself. They represent the identity and environment to the people who are on the outside. As a form of mass communication, film has always influenced and shaped society via the messages within its content matter. The purpose of this study is to determine the representation of social processes in the film 'Jakarta Maghrib'. The method used is a qualitative constructivist paradigm. This study uses the theory of the social construction of reality and analyze them using the semiotic model of Peirce consisting of sign, object, and interpretant. The unit of analysis is a scene by scene deconstruction analyzing representations of social processes that can be witnessed in the film. The researchers concluded that the behavior of the actors in the film represents some social processes which appear in the form of attitudes, behavior and dialogue. Researchers concluded that the social processes in the film can be categorized into the headings Cooperation, Coercion, Toleration, Competition and Conflict.
