  • The Key Word : Students‟, Writing Ability, Descriptive Text, Analysis The Objectives of this research are (1) To the students‟ writing abilities in Descriptive Text, (2) To difficulties student‟s in composing Descriptive text in MAN 2 Boyolali. Therefore the researcher formulated the problem statement: How are the students‟abilities of writing descriptive texts at tenth grade of MAN 2 Boyolaliand What are difficulties the students find in writing descriptive texts at Tenth grade of MAN 2 Boyolali. This research was conducted in the First Grade students‟ worksheet of MAN 2 Boyolali. It was descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research were the students worksheet of the Intensive class (XIPS2 Class) of the first Grade students in MAN 2Boyolali. XIPS2 Class consist 27 students. The data was collected from the documentation (Students‟ worksheet), interview, and observation. The data were analyzed by reducing the data, presenting the data, analyzing the data by using Hughes‟s theory and taking the conclusion and verification. This research used methodological triangulation which compared from the result of documentation (Students‟ worksheet), interview, and observation in order to get the valid data. The findings of the study showed that, first the students writing ability in Descriptive text was categorized 15 students or (65%) was categorized as excellent, 8 students (35%) were categorized as good, there was no students were categorized as fair, poor and failed. The second, there were some difficulties faced by the students in writing Descriptive text, are: 1) The students difficult in arranging the sentences 2) The students lack of vocabulary 3) The students do not master grammar well.
