  • ABSTRACT This research aims at knowing: (1) Implementation of principal academic supervision for the teachers at MAN Batang, (2) The reasons why the principal of MAN Batang has already implemented academic supervision, but the teachers’ learning quality is still low. This research applied descriptive qualitative approach. This research was conducted at MAN Batang in 2014. Subject of this research was the principal, and object of this research was implementation of principal academic supervision. Meanwhile, the informants of this research were vice of principal, staffs, and supervisor. Technique of collecting data used interview, observation and documentation. Test of data validity in this research was done by employing triangulation of method and source. Technique of data analysis employed interactive model, data reduction, data display and conclusion. The result of this research shows that: (1) Implementation of principal academic supervision starts with arranging supervision program, conducting supervision, and following-up supervision result. (2) The principal of MAN Batang has already implemented academic supervision but the teachers’ learning quality is still low. This is because of several reasons, such as; the principal has not maximally implemented his duty well, thus the supervision is still low. Besides, most of teachers have not been ready yet to be supervised and also other activities faced by the principal. Keywords: Academic Supervision, Principal, Teacher
