In this research, the researcher used english textbook When English Rings a Bell for seventh grade Junior High School. The objective of the study are to describe the compatibility of textbook with the scientific approach in 2013 Curriculum and the compatibility between the materials in textbook with the core and basic competence in terms of Cognitive and Psychomotor domain. The research was descriptive-qualitative research. The data were collected from the interview and documentation. The interview was given to collect the data about english textbook When English Rings a Bell, the advantages and weakness of the textbook. The documentation to collect the data from English textbook When English Rings a Bell for seventh grade Junior High School written by the book writer team of Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia. There result of the study showed that in the compatibility of the materials with the scientific approach is 77,5 %. Then, the compatibility between the materials in textbook with the core and basic competence in terms cognitive and psychomotor domain. For cognitive domain there are 82,35% relevant materials, 11,76% partly relevant materials, and 5, 88% irrelevant materials.While, in the term psychomotor domain there are 76,20% relevant materials, 9,5% partly relevant materials, and 14,29% irrelevant materials.From the research findings, it can be judged that the book can be recomended as a teaching learning media. The researcher also hope the goverment can maintain the quality of textbook.
