Key words : Teaching-Learning Process, Speaking Skill This study was aimed describing how is the teaching-learning of speaking to the eight grade student SMP Al-Firdaus Solo in 2016/2017 academic year, describing the problem faced by the teacher and the student at the eight grade student SMP Al-Firdaus Solo in 2016/2017 academic year, describing the solution of the problem faced by the teacher and the student at the eight grade student SMP Al-Firdaus Solo in 2016/2017 academic year. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative research which analyze in the data in the from of word. The researcher conducted in the eight grade student of SMP Al-Firdaus Solo which consist of 29 students. The method of collecting data were 1) Observation 2) Interveiw 3)Documentation. The data has been analyzed through interactive model proposed by Miles and Hubberman (1992: 20) covering Collecting the data, Reducing the data , Displaying the data and Drawing conclusion. The result of the research that the teacher used the Direct Method and Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP). The material used in teaching-learning process of speaking skill was taken from Handbook. The media used the teacher are Whiteboard, marker, LCD, Picture and Texbook. The teacher‟s role were as organizer, as assessor, as motivator, as controller. The student‟s role were as the performer, as listener, as the main subject of learning. The problem faced by the teacher were the different levels of students and arange the time. The problems faced by the students were lack motivation, lack vocabularly, pronunciation, low-self confidence. The solutions of problem faced by the teacher and student were by increase low self-confidence, increasing vocabularly, need more motivation, pronounciation.
