This research has been condacted to describe the implementation of teaching reading at Seventh Grade Students MTs Klaten in Academic Year 2016/2017 and the technique of teaching reading employed at Seventh Grade Students MTs Klaten in Academic Year 2016/2017. This research used descriptive as the research method. In collecting the data, the researcher used qualitative techniques. The qualitative data came from observation, interview, and documentation. The research was applied on four meetings and it held on April 5th 2017 until finished at Seventh Grade Students MTs Klaten in Academic Year 2016/2017. The research finding showed that the technique of teaching reading employed at Seventh Grade Students MTs Klaten in Academic Year 2016/2017 was using reading aloud, where the technique consists of preparing new words, giving the title and the author, read with the feeling and variety and encourage stundent‟s participation. Preparing the new words where the teacher has already prepared the new words from the text that she gave to the students on every meeting, such as “Teacher” for the first meeting, “Animal” for the second meeting, about person (Identification) on the third meeting, and “My kitchen” at the fourth meeting. Giving the title and author, where on every time the teacher gave the text, she always gave them the information about the text, such as the title and the author, and if there is not the author, the teacher gave them know the name of the source. Read with feeling and variety, where by using this action, the students will be able to feel comfort with the text and comfort in read the text. Therefore, this step can make the students able to do both actions, read aloud and read comfortable. Encourage student participation, where the listener must do their job also as good listener by listen carefully. They have to be more focus because they have also participating even though as listeners. Therefore, the teacher sometimes gives them task to find words that is not right when their friend pronounce it.
