This research paper is intended to describe “Descriptive Study on The Technique Used by Teacher in Teaching Listening to The Eleventh Grade Science Program Class Students of SMA Muhammadiyah Imam Syuhodo in the Academic Year 206/2017”. The research problem are (1) What are the technique that used by teacher in SMA Muhammadiyah Imam Syuhodo in teaching listening to the eleventh grade of science program class students in the academic year 2016/2017, (2) How are the implementation of teacher’s techniques that used to teach listening to the eleventh grade students of science program class of SMA Muhammadiyah Imam Syuhodo in the academic year of 2016/2017. The research was conducted from 23rd April 2017 until 27th May 2017 on teaching listening technique used by teacher at the eleventh grade science program class of SMA Imam Syuhodo. It was descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research were one English teacher of SMA Muhammadiyah Imam Syuhodo. The data were collected from the observation and interview. The data were analysed by data reduction, data display, and taking the conclusion and verification. This research used triangulation of data to get an appropriate data in order to get a reliable and valid data. The researcher found that the technique used by teacher is completely implemented to teach listening. The students become more talkative, and they can understand the material easier. The teacher used dictation and filling gap in teaching listening to the eleventh grade science program class of SMA Muhammadiyah Imam Syuhodo. The technique used by the teacher in teaching listening make students understand the material easier, this is important for the teacher to have various technique in teaching listening.
