Key words : Writing, Narrative Text, Media, Subtitled Video The problem of statement is whether there is any significant difference of applying subtitled video to increase the eighth grade student writing narrative text achievement between the students who are taught using subtitled video and those are taught by using textbook of SMP Muhammadiyah Karangrayung in academic year of 2016/2017. The objective of the research to know whether there is any significant difference of applying subtitled video to increase the eighth grade student writing narrative text achievement between the students who are taught using subtitled video and those are taught by using textbook of SMP Muhammadiyah Karangrayung in academic year of 2016/2017. To achieve the objective of study, the researcher conducted experimental research. This experimental research was held at SMP Muhammadiyah Karangrayung. The researcher use only post-test design.The researcher used cluster random sampling technique to determine class of research. The subject of the study was the grade VIIIA and VIIIB. The Experimental class was taught writing narrative text using subtitled video media, whereas the control class was taught writing narrative text using textbook. In analyzing the data, the researcher used quantitative measurement to find the result. Theresult of the research shows that there is a significant difference in writing narrative text achievement between students who are taught by using subtitled video and those are taught using textbook. The computation of T-test show tobtained=6.35 is higher that ttable=1.99 or 6.35>1.99. It means that subtitled video is more effective to teach students‘ writing narrative text. It can be applying as media in teaching writing narrative text of junior high school because the students can understand more about the text and catch the message that has been delivered because the student is supported by audio visual media.
