  • There are a lot of problems in speaking skill at school especially in junior high school. For a lot of beginners. Most of the time, the difficulties lie in pronunciation, vocabulary and confidence. The first is the difficulties in pronuncing English words. This study, moreover investigates the effetiveness of Number Head Together Technique for the students’ speaking skill at eighth grade of Darul Ulum Islamic Junior High School Purwogondo. Two of classes are conducted as the experiment class and control class as a sample to obtain the data. The data is analyzed referring to three points; a) preparing lesson plan, b) implementing the steps of teaching learning activities, c) and making evaluation. The result shows that; for class VIII D is 38.8966 and for class VIII G is 73.5172, meaning that the skill speaking score in class VIII G is higher than the speaking skill score of class VIII D as a control class. It’s mean that Number Head Together (NHT) technique can improve students’ speaking skill.
