THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THREE STEPS INTERVIEW TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY (A True Experimental Research at the Tenth Grade Students of SMA N 1 Tahunan Jepara)

- This research aimed to find the the effectiveness of using Three Steps Interview Technique to improve students’ speaking ability. This research was conducted by using true experimental study. The subject of this research was X MIPA 4 and X MIPA 5 grade of SMA N 1 Tahunan 2018/2019 academic year which consisted of 72 students. This research was conducted in two group. The experimental group was students which were taught by Three Steps Interview Technique, while the control group was students which were taught without Three Steps Interview Technique. The data were gathered through tests which were delivered into the pre-test and the post-test. The result of the research showed that there is a significant difference between teaching speaking skill by using Three Steps Interview Technique and without using Three Steps Interview Technique. The result shows that the value of t-test (4.376) is higher than ttable (1.994) at the significance level 5%. It means that the Null Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Hence, it can be concluded that Three Steps Interview Technique Technique is effective to improve students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Tahunan Jepara.
