AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENT’S ERRORS IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT (A Case Study of Eleventh Grade Students at MA Manbaul Ulum Jepara in the Academic Year of 2018/2019)

- This research described the errors made by the eleventh grade students of MA Manbaul Ulum Mambak Jepara. It is a case study involving 16 students in the class, who takes a written test of descriptive text, and documentation are served as the data collection. The writer uses descriptive qualititative method. The purpose of this case is to find out some problem are : “(a.) What kinds of error are made by eleventh students of MA Manbaul Ulum Mambak Jepara in writing descriptive text?, (b.) What is the dominant errors made by the eleventh students of MA Manbaul Ulum Mambak Jepara in writing descriptive text?”. Based on that problem the writer get the result of the research show that (1.) Omission. In this case, there were 24 errors (23,07 %). (2.) Addition. Students feel confused with to be that uses in the sentence, and then sometimes when they arrange sentences they add the word that must not apppear. In this case, there were 13 errors (12,5 %). It is the lowest errors are made by the students. (3.) Error of Selection. Students still can not distiguish which are present tense and past tense, which are noun and verb, and which are subject and object. In this case, there were 36 errors (34,61 %). It is the highest dominant errors are made by the students. (4.) In misordering errors. Sometimes, students made mistakes in drafting the word or a group of word that wherease to draft the word and group of word in English and Indonesia is different. They translate word by word start from Indonesia to English. In this case, there were 31 errors (29,80 %).
