Asfah Rahman, and H.Sukardi Weda)&#xD; The objectives of this study were to find out: (1) whether or not literature has significant effects on students&#x2019; English productive skill, (2) whether or not students are interested learning English using literature.&#xD; The method was qauasi-experimental and non equivalent control group design. The instrument was pre and post writing and speaking test to evaluate students&#x2019; English productive skill. There were 40 students as the sample 20 students of each group experimental and control group. The data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS 17 Program. Descriptive statistic was to analyze and describe the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the effects of literature on the students&#x2019; English productive skill.&#xD; Comparing the mean score of writing and speaking posttest of both groups , experimental group was higher than control group. The mean score of writing posttest of experimental group was 78.725; while control group was 66.375. The result 78.725 was higher than 66.375 (78.725 &#x2C3; 66.375). The mean score of speaking posttest of experimental group was 71.90; while control group was 58.45. The result 71.90 was higher than 58.45 (71.90 &#x2C3; 58.45). In test of significance (t-Test) of both groups of writing and speaking posttest; the t-Test value was lower than t-table (alpha) in the significant level 0.05 (0.00 &lt; 0.05). The result of this study showed that the use of literature in teaching English productive skill has significant effects to improve students&#x2019; English productive skill. The mean score of students&#x2019; interest of experimental group was 84 from 20 respondents. The study showed that the students were very interested learning English productive skill using literature. Finally, this study stated that the use of literature has effects toward students&#x2019; English productive skill achievement at 9th grade of MTs As&#x2019;adiyah Pengkendekan in Luwu Utara Regency in Academic Year 2013/2014.&#xD; &#xD; &#xD; &#xD; &#xD; &#xD; &#xD; ABSTRAK&#xD; &#xD; SAMSIANI H.N. Asfah Rahman, and H.Sukardi Weda)&#xD; Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) apakah sastra mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan bahasa Inggris produktif siswa, (2) apakah siswa tertarik belajar bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan sastra.&#xD; Penelitian ini adalah quasi-eksperimen, grup experimen dan grup kontrol. Instrumen penelian menggunakan pretest dan posttest untuk mengevaluasi keterampilan bahasa Inggris produktip siswa. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 40 siswa, masing-masing 20 siswa untuk setiap grup. Data dianalisa dengan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial melalui program SPSS 17. Statistik deskriptif digunakan untuk menganalisa dan mendeskripsikan frekuensi, persentase, nilai rata-rata, standar deviasi, dan efek sastra terhadap keterampilan bahasa Inggris produktip siswa.&#xD; Dengan membandingkan nilai rata-rata posttest writing dan speaking dari kedua grup, grup eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada grup kontrol. Nilai rata-rata posttest writing grup eksperimen 78.725; sedangkan grup kontrol 66.375. Hasil dari 78.725 lebih besar dari 66.375 (78.725 &#x2C3; 66.375). Nilai rata-rata posttest speaking grup experimen 71.90; sedangkan grup kontrol 58.45. Hasil dari 71.90 lebih besar dari 58.45 (71.90 &#x2C3; 58.45). Nilai rata-rata minat siswa pada grup eksperimen 84 dari 20 responden. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa sangat tertarik belajar bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan sastra.
