- Abstract This study aims to analyze the similarities and differences in adjective use in German and Indonesian using Contrastive Analysis approach, which includes morphological process analysis, semantic role, and syntax process. Through this approach, it is expected that the results of this research can be used in teaching German, especiallyGerman linguistics. The results of this study are expected to facilitate German learners in Indonesia in understanding German, and vice versa can help Indonesian learners in Germany in understanding Indonesian. The data collection technique used in this study is Library Riseach (literature study) to obtain primary and secondary data. Based on the results of contrastive analysis of both languages, it was found that there are some similarities and differences. The similarities are that both languages undergo the process of word formation through affixation. Affixes in German include prefixes and suffixes, while in Indonesian they consist of confixes, prefixes, combinations of affix, and suffix. In Indonesian, adjectives can also be formed from the basic word, affixed word, repetited word and integrated word but in German there is no repetited word. Furthermore, in the use of adjectives, both languages also recognize adjectives in the form of positiv, comparative and superlativ.
