- Abstract The Form of Students Politeness in Academic Discourse.This study aimed at describing students‟ language politeness through the form of students‟ language politeness in academic discourse. This study was qualitative research by using the approach of communication ethnography theory, speech act theory, and language politeness theory. The research data consist of speech data and field notes. The data was collected through recording technique, observation, interview, and transcription. Data analysis was carried out through four main procedures, namely: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and inference/verification. The result of data analysis, it is found the variety of students‟ language politeness in academic discourse in descriptive form represented through the use of two languages. First, the use of diction includes: (1) naming themselves, (2) use of the pronoun, and (3) use of the title. Second, the use of speech, including: (a) speech with declarative mode, (b) speech with imperatives mode, and (c) speech with interrogative mode.
