The effectiveness of Problem Based Learning and&#xD; Explicit Instruction in Learning Exposition Text Writing Skills for Grade X&#xD; Students at SMAN 10 Makassar (supervised by Akmal Hamsa and Mayong). This&#xD; research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The&#xD; research design used was the pretest-posttest control group design. There were&#xD; two variables in this study, namely the independent variable in the form of a&#xD; learning model and the dependent variable in the form of exposition text writing&#xD; skills. The population of the study were all students of grade X at SMAN 10&#xD; Makassar with the total of 310 students. The research sample consisted of 62&#xD; students from 2 classes, namely Class X MIPA 1 and Class X MIPA 5. Sampling&#xD; was conducted by employing random sampling technique. The technique used in&#xD; collecting the data was the writing assignment technique. The research data were&#xD; analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics t-test with SPSS for&#xD; windows 26.0 assistance. The results of this study reveal that the problem based&#xD; learning model is more effective to be used than the explicit instruction learning&#xD; model, proven by the t-test that the significance value is 0.00&lt;0.05 and the tcount&#xD; value is greater than the ttable value or (1.929&gt;1.67).
