  • ABSTRACT This research is a quasi-experimental design that aims to determine the differences in learning outcomes in the environmental pollution material of students who are taught by modified guided inquiry and free inquiry models. The independent variable in this research is the application of a guided inquiry model and modified free inquiry, while the dependent variable is the learning outcomes of students on environmental pollution. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Soppeng. The population in this research were all students of class X MIA SMA Negeri 4 Soppeng consisting of 6 classes. The research sample was selected by two classes by random sampling, namely class X MIA 2 as the experimental group taught by the guided inquiry model with 29 students and X MIA 1 as the experimental group taught by the modified free inquiry model with 29 students. The data retrieval method is by using a written test in the form of multiple-choice questions. The research data were collected by giving tests before and after learning and analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Inferential statistics the T-test is used to test the influence hypothesis. The results showed that there were differences in learning outcomes of students who were taught with guided inquiry models and modified free inquiry.
