- This study aimed at describing three things. 'Hie first was to describe the students' ability in writing expository texts without the implemetation of lesson study as learning model. The second was to describe the students' ability within die implementation of lesson study as learning model in writing expository texts. The third was to test the effectiveness of lesson study as learning model in writing expository texts. This study was true experiment with Posttest Only Group Design. From 280 students as population, the sample was taken by purposive sampling technique. The control class was VII5 that consisted of 30 students, while the experiment class was Vll10 that consisted of 30 students. The instruments were observation and test. The data was collected and then analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. T-test was analyzed through SPSS 20. There were three results indicated in this study. The first result showed that the students got score under 2.66 with die average score was 2.50 and categorized as C+ without using lesson study as learning model. The second was the implementation of lesson study in writing expositor)7 texts showed that there were 26 students (87%) got score above 2.66 with the average score was 3.25 and catehorized as B+. The third result showed that the lesson study as learning model was effective to be implemented in writing expository7 texts. It was showed by the t-test that was higher than t-table (3.612 > 1.667). It means that the alternative hypotesis (Hi) was accepted. Keywords: Implementation, Lesson Study, Expository Texts
