  • This article aims to describe the performance model of cinema wayang lakon Dewa Ruci as a media for the developing Indonesian wayang. The cinema wayang performance model was created to answer various problems in puppetry, namely the decline of the younger generation interest towards wayang and the extinction of wayang performance art in Indonesia. There are three problems studied, namely: (1) how the basic concepts of the innovation of cinema wayang performance; (2) how the performance structure of cinema wayang Dewa Ruci; and (3) why the model of cinema wayang performance becomes the media for the development of Indonesian wayang. The methods used include interviews, literature study, observation, and the innovation process of the cinema wayang performance model. The results of the study show that: (1) the cinema wayang performance model is based on the concepts of form, lakon, narration, sabet, and music compiled with a cinematographic paradigm; (2) the form of cinema wayang is a combination of wayang kulit purwa packed with cinematographic discipline so that it takes the form of a cinema wayang film; and (3) the model of cinema wayang performance of Dewa Ruci becomes the model of the development of Indonesian wayang containing the values of character and the novelty of the performance form according to the times.
