- This reseach entitle “Eksistensi Kelompok Karawitan Guyub Rukun di Gulon, Kecamatan Jebres, Surakarta” (The Existence of Guyub Rukun Gamelan Group in Gulon, Kecamatan Jebres, Surakarta) aims to describe the factors of existence of Guyub Rukun Gamelan Group. This study tries to observe the factors of how the gamelan group maintains its existence and what the factors are. The research method is qualitative descriptive with observation, interview and documentation techniques for collecting data. The technique of analyzing data uses the technique of reducing, presenting, and summarizing data. The existence of Guyub Rukun Gamelan Group can be found from the activities as well as its reputations and prestige that is done by the group. This group can stay on its existence because of internal and external factors. The internal factors are the organization and the quality of the musicians whereas external factors are the supports from the government and the society as well as the roles of media.
