The gap was considered imbalanced if it was above 5%. The qualitative data were collected by identifying the roles andactivities portrayed for both genders to see the existence of stereotype. The result of the study revealed that the occurrence of both genders in the text and illustration was imbalanced. In the text, female characters occurredless frequently as main character which was 8.11% lower than male characters. In illustration, male appeared 18% more frequent than female. For occupational activities portrayed, females were given 12.50% fewer than male. In non-occupational activities the difference of at home related activities was 14.82%, at school related activities was 5.56% and hobby/interest/leisure activities was 65.22%. In addition, female characters were given 5.85% opportunity to utter more words in mixed gender dialogues but male still dominated in initiating the conversation.
