- ABSTRACT Pramesti, Indra, 2014. Analysis of the Implementation of Quantum Teaching and Learning in the Lesson Plans Provided by Four English Learning Websites for Young EFL Learners. Thesis, English Language Teaching, Faculty of Letter, State University of Malang, Advisor: Francisca Maria Ivone, MA,Ph.D Keyword: Quantum Teaching and Learning (QTL), English Learning Website, English Young Learners (EYL) Teachers of English for Young Learners in Indonesia who want to develop a successful lesson, face numerous challenges, including large class sizes, inadequate instructional material, poor technical support, and demotivated students who are reluctant to participate in class. Quantum Teaching and Learning (QTL) has been suggested as a promising approach to be implemented in EYL classes. The concept of QTL is to bring the worldto the students by conducting enjoyable learning process. The Internet offers lesson plans and teaching ideas, some of them employ the concept of QTL. These resource are helpful for English teacher to create teaching and learning activities in the class. However, an evaluation of the employment of QTL in these materialsis necessary to be conducted, to find out how this approach is applied and what adjustment are needed to be able to use the materials effectively in EYL classes. In this study, the researcher used qualitative research method. The researcher defined QTL, evaluated the selected English learning websites, sorted the lesson plans, evaluated the lesson plans in order to find how QTL was implemented. To maintain the reliability of the research an interview with an EYL teacher was conducted. The teacher was also involved in the evaluation of the lesson plan. The researcher discussed the evaluation findings and tried to maintain the relevance of the lesson plans. The study deliver the result that QTL can be implemented in lesson plans provided in different four English learning websites by sticking out with DePorter’s six steps of developing learning strategies; (1) enrolling/motivating, (2) experiencing, (3) labeling/naming, (4) demonstrating, (5) reviewing, and (6) celebrating. These steps are compatible with the suggested lesson plans in the recent Curriculum 2013. The study is useful for teachers who are interested in employing language instructions using QTL in which students can easily acquire the target languge naturally and effectively. Future researchers may want to explore the representation of different learning approaches in English learning websites and to examine the employment of QTL-based lesson plan offered in these websites in real language classes.
