  • Kelompok Berlatih Olahraga (KBO) is a part of nonformal education. Colleta (1996:1) states that nonformal educations the transmission of knowledge, smail and behaviour is purposeful and systematic and emphasises the development of skill out of the formal educational technology with the structure of time, place and the various sources of students. The present of KBO of football team of Karang Taruna, Tumpang, Malang has been the interest of the students for the last four years, but in the fifth year the interst decreases. This becomes the background of this research. The focus the study is the phenomena of why the students has be come nonactive recently. The research design is quantitative case study. The data was collested through interview participative observation and documentary study. The subject of the study was KBO foodball team of Karang Taruna, Tumpang, Malang. The chosen was the nonactive ones. Trainers and stadium manager were the additional informan. The research results have shown the reasons why the students have become nonactive those reasons are : (1) unsatisfaction of the students towards the subtitution of the trainer, (2) the gap between the students and the trainer and among the students themselves, (3) the limited faculty awned by the KBO. Based on the research result, it is suggested that the local should pay close attention to KBO football team of Karang Taruna, since they are the parts of non-formal educations.
