- Polygamous family tends to have more conflict than monogamous family. The unfair actions of the husband have tendencies to create those conflicts. The husband and the other family member has an important role in preserving the harmony in polygamous family. A harmonious family is a dream for everyone who has family, including the polygamous family. Everyone who has done polygamy is aiming a harmony family. Conflict erupted from the polygamous family must be solved well and quick, so it does not threat and ruin the existing relationship. This research is aiming to know how to nurture the relationship in a polygamous family. By doing the phenomological approach, this research refers to interpretif paradigm. This research is using Social Penetration Theory and Relationship Maintance Theory as its base. Data collecting used in this research is in depth interview. The subject of this research are 2 polygamous families. The result of this research has claimed that every polygamous family has a different kind of life. Both of the polygamous families mentioned above have a different way in doing their daily lives, such as living together with the wives under the same roof, or living in a different roof with either of the wives. The unfairness of the husbands towards either of their wives can trigger the conflicts in the family. The source of the unfairness of the husbands is mainly the uneven household expenses and poor time management. Besides, the quarelling and ignoring each other mostly happen between the wives. It is because there is a jealousy and different opinion in doing such household activities. A method has been done by arranging family meeting to discuss the erupted conflict and how to solve it well. The communication between family members has a great role to unite every idea which has possibility to solve the conflicts. Another result of the research is polygamous family I wives have a terrible relationship, meanwhile, polygamous family II wives have a wonderful relationship. Yet, the relationship occurs between the step mother and the step children in both families is so harmonious to the length that the step children have claimed their step mother as their own biological mother.
