- There were several important points that could be concluded from this final report about the communication barriers and strategies during the writer’s internship as Guest Relation Officer (GRO) at PT. Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU), Bandung. The first was about the common communication barriers faced by guest relation officers at PT. Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU). There were two communication barriers that commonly appeared at PT. SAU, those were environmental and physical barriers also the semantic barriers. The writer found one out of four classifications under the environmental and physical barriers, which was place. These barriers occurred because of the act of environmental and natural conditions. For the semantic barriers, it occurred because of some misunderstanding in languages differences in communication such as meanings and words. The second was about the communication strategies to overcome the guest’s problems. There were five strategies that were used by GRO at PT. SAU. Those were paraphrasing strategies, switching into native language, seeking help or asking for clarification, non-verbal strategy, and time fillers. The writer used those communication strategies to overcome the guest’s problems as quick as she could so there was no long queue behind.
