The writer was assigned to translate news related to basketball for the purpose of creating a comprehensible and at the same time enjoyable reading material for the readers of Mainbasket magazine. Therefore, the writer chose to conduct the translations of the basketball texts in Mainbasket Magazine using the faithful and free translation method as it is seen as the best way to translate basketball news for the magazine company. For translating basketball news, the writer also has to be careful in translating terms from English to Bahasa Indonesia as the terms that the writer translated have to suit the topic of the news itself, which is basketball. The writer chose to change the translation of the term “vets” from “veteran” to “pemainpemain yang berpengalaman” as the writer feels that it will suit the context of the article better in Bahasa Indonesia than just translating it into “veteran”.
