  • Milk Borne Disease (MBD) can be caused by a variety of pathogenic bacteria, one of which is Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) which has a large impact on aspects of public health. Staphylococcus aureus contamination was detected as many as 100 isolates from 210 cow’s milk samples taken from milk can at several dairy farms in Kediri, Probolinggo, Blitar, and Grati. Those 100 S. Aureus isolates were identified as antibiotic resistance profile and detected as Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). About 57% of S. aureus isolates were confirmed as resistant to tetracycline, than followed by 27% to oxacillin, 17% to cefoxitin, 11% to erythromycin, and 2% to gentamicin. There were 15 S. Aureus isolates confirmed as Multi Drug Resistance (MDR). Twenty four out of 30 presumptive MRSA isolates were confirmed as MRSA by using oxacillin resistance screen agar (ORSA) test, 50 % were MDR-SA. Two out of five MRSA producing SEB isolates were MDR-SA.
