  • In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproduction technology that can be able to overcome infertility problems. This method produce high quality and large quantities of embryos. In its application, the success rate of IVF method is still relatively low. This can be caused by poor oocyte and spermatozoa quality factors that can results in the failure of IVF. This research aimed to prove that calcium ionophore supplementation in the IVF medium can increase fertilization rate in kacang goat oocyte. This research was divided into two groups, control group: oocyte fertilized with a medium without supplementation, treatment group: oocyte fertilized with calcium ionophore supplemented medium at a dose of 5.2 μl/ml. Fertilization rates were observed by the formation of two pronuclei in the cytoplasm of the oocytes and observed under inverted microscope. The research results that were tested by statistical tests showed that there were significant differences between the control group and the treatment group (P<0.05). Fertilization rates in the treatment group (93.12±13.7) showed higher results than in the control group (65.96±28.36). It can be concluded that calcium ionophore supplementation with a dose of 5.2 μl/ml in the fertilization medium can increase the rate of fertilization of oocytes in kacang goat.
