Natural medicines have specific elements with therapeutic benefits for human health that had been widely accepted in developing countries. Natural medicines could be used as treatment for degenerative diseases such as hypertension which often found in primary health care. This study aimed to explore knowledges, attitudes and use of natural medicines in hypertensive patients in Surabaya. Semi-structured interviews were conducted on nine selected informants considered several variations of various informant criteria. The results showed that although all informants used natural medicines to reduce blood pressure, they have poor knowledge about natural medicines and its various types of its logos. Some informants doubted about registered natural medicine products and even don’t know about it on the contrary, the attitude of the informants about natural medicines that they consumed themselves is good. The role of health workers is needed to provide information about natural medication for hypertensive patients.
