- The research was aimed to get immune response bases of Toxoplasma gondii through study of interleukin-4 ( IL-4) expression in serum and reproductive organ at pregnant mouse which playing a part in congenital infection process. Balb/c mice at twelve weeks old were matched using induction of PMSG and HCG. After gestation, Mice divided to become 3 treatment groups which is infection with T. gondii at first, second and third trimester with control. Three days after infection of mice sacrificed, serum and reproductive organ used as sample. Measurement of expression of IL-4 at serum and reproductive organ by ELISA. Results of research showed expression of IL-4 at serum of mice pregnant at first, second and third trimester, three days after infection T. gondii respectively 0.159, 0.162 and 0.156, and at reproductive organ 0.175, 0.204 and 0.193. Expression pattern of IL-4 is enhancement of at second trimester and experience of reduction at third trimester. There are correlation between expression of IL-4 at serum with at reproductive organ. Enhancement of IL-4 and positive correlation enable happened congenital infection at T. gondii infection. Keywords : Toxoplasma gondii, interleukin-4, congenital toxoplasmosis
