  • Rats are rodents (rodentia), they are pests and reservoir of intestinal worms in humans and animals which have the potential for zoonosis. Wild rat (Rattus sp.) might be found in the traditional market in large number. This study aims to identify the types of parasitic worms, determine the prevalence of worm parasites which infect the gastrointestinal of wild rat (Rattus sp.) and difference between a worm infections in the gastrointestinal of wild rat (Rattus sp.) male and female in the traditional markets of Surabaya City. The method used was gastrointestinal surgery and then worms staining were done using Semichen-Acetic Carmine. It was find five worm parasites namatode class Nippostrongylus brasiliensis, Subulura andersoni, Syphacia muris, Gongylonemaneoplasticum and cestoda class Hymenolepis diminuta with a prevalence of 100%.
