  • Background. Chronic inflammation occurs when the lesion persist in the long period. If the inflammation untreated, it will refer to the pathological changes in the oral mucosa (gingival). VEGF reported increased during the chronic inflammation healing as a signaling protein in angiogenesis process. Electrolyzed Reduced Alkaline Water (ERAW) with an alkaline pH and antioxidant has the potential effect to accelerate the chronic inflammation healing. Purpose. The aim of this study was to know giving of Electrolyzed Reduced Alkaline Water (ERAW) in the chronic inflammation. Method. This research was a true experimental study. In the control and treatment group made an incision on the gingival labial and given 10% hydrogen peroxide. The control group was given aquadest water and the treatment group was given Electrolyzed Reduced Alkaline Water (ERAW) pH range 8.5 – 9 after third days, then sacrificed after 72 hours. Result. The mean of VEGF expression in the control group is 34.5 and the mean of VEGF expression in the treatment group is 89. Conclusion. Giving of Electrolyzed Reduced Alkaline Water (ERAW) pH range 8.5 – 9 increased the VEGF expression in chronic inflammation.
