  • The antioxidant activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetat and methanol extracts of Caulerpa lentillifera from Kangean Island were determined against 1,1-diphenil-2-picrylhidrazyl (DPPH). The antioxidant activity of extracts is the ability of extracts to scavenge the DPPH. Extracts (375 μL) was added to 0,004% DPPH solution (1125 μL) and after 30 minutes, the absorbance of DPPH solution was measured using spectrophotometer at 517 nm. The IC50 was calculated by using linear regression (concentration vs % scavenge). The ethyl acetat extract have highest IC50 among others, 190,15 ± 13,28 ppm. While IC50 values of n-hexane and methanol extracts are 380,81 ± 48,38 ppm and 1414,33 ± 162,36 ppm. Antimicrobial activity of C. racemosa extracts were determined, the results showed that methanol extract has highest antimicrobial activity with Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) against S. aureus was 50 ppm and against E.coli was 25 ppm. While other extracts have lower antimicrobial activity. Phytochemical screening showed that n-hexane extract contained terpenoid, polyphenol, alkaloid and flavonoid; while ethyl acetat and methanol extract contained terpenoid and polyphenol.
