- Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased levels of blood glucose (hyperglycemia). Andrographis paniculata Nees Herbs and Swietenia mahagoni Jacq. Seeds heve been used as traditional medicine for lowering blood glucose level. This study determined the effect of variant doses of granul combination extract ethanol 70% of Sambiloto Herbs (A. paniculata Nees) and Mahagony Seeds (S. mahagoni Jacq) (2:1) for antidiabetic activity in alloxan induced diabetic mice. Three kinds concentration granul combination extract of Sambiloto Herbs (A. paniculata Nees) and Mahagony Seeds (S. mahagoni Jacq) (2:1) with dose 1,95mg/20g Body Weight (BW) of mice, 3,9mg/20g BW of mice, and 7,8mg/20g BW of mice, were administered orally to groups I, II, III respectively. Glibenclamide was used as positive control with concentration of 0,013mg/20g BW of mice while CMC-Na used as negative control. Blood glucose levels was evaluated during 24 hours and examined at 0, 2, 4, 6, and 24h. Acquired data were analyzed by using One Way ANOVA test and Post Hoc Test with LSD method for further analysis. The result was demonstrated that the granul combination of 70% ethanol extract of Sambiloto Herbs (A. paniculata Nees) and Mahagony Seeds (S. mahagoni Jacq) (2:1) reduced the blood glucose levels 42,09%; 29,22%; and 42,32% for groups I, II, and III, respectively. These result indicated that the combination of 70% ethanol extract of Sambiloto Herbs (A. paniculata Nees) and Mahagony Seeds (S. mahagoni Jacq) may potential candidate for hypoglycemic activity in alloxan-induced diabetic mice.
