- Hesperetin is a natural flavonoid and classified as BCS Class II. It is characterized by its poor solubility in water but it has high permeability through intestine membrane. Micelle can improve its solubility and bioavailability by entrapped hesperetin into hydrophobic part in the core of micelle structure. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of ratio of D-α-Tocopheryl Polyethylene Glykol 1000 Succinate (TPGS) and poloxamer 407 on physical characterization of mixed micelle and its stability against dilution. TPGS single micelle and mixed micelle of TOGS and Poloxamer 407 were prepared using thin film hydration method. The single TPGS as control (F1) and three different ratios of TGPS : poloxamer 407 were evaluated. The ratio of TPGS : Poloxamer 407 (w/w) were as follows: 1:1(F2), 1:2 (F3) and 1:3 (F4). The TPGS micelle and the mixed micelles obtained were evaluated in terms of physical characteristic and dilution stability. Physical characteristics measured were particle size, CMC and efficiency of encapsulation. The result of particle size all of micelles obtained were smaller than 100 nm. The particle size increased from F1 to F4. The CMC decreased from F1 to F2. The efficiency encapsulation was increased from FI to F2. The result of dilution stability was only observed visually and all of the mixed micelles showed no precipitation.
