COST OF ILLNESS PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DENGAN MONOTERAPI METFORMIN DI BEBERAPA PUSKESMAS WILAYAH SURABAYA

- This study aimed to determine the cost of illness in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with metformin monotherapy at several primary health care centres in Surabaya. This study was conducted in 10 primary health care centres in Surabaya on January-March 2019. Those primary health care centres were selected based on the highest number of diabetes mellitus patients at the primary health care centres in Surabaya. This study was a cross sectional study using purposive sampling. This study was performed from a societal perspective. The cost measurement method used a list of interview questions to determine the cost. This study was conducted on 53 patients. Result showed that the direct medical costs was Rp455,162.47 ± 91,486.69 per patient per year; direct non-medical costs was Rp344,106.37 ± 120,350.30 per patient per year; and indirect costs was Rp338,193.00 ± 169,991.80 per patient per year. The biggest cost for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus with metformin monotherapy was direct medical cost which was drug cost of Rp213,653.03 ± 853,971.93 per patient per year. The conclusion was the total annual costs of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with metformin monotherapy was Rp1,137,461.86 ± 105,437.97 per patient. This research can be used to consider making policies.
